That's Southwest for you. Schtick is, well, their schtick. I have been on numerous flights of theirs and although it is kind of silly, it is fun. SIL tried to get on that show, but we couldn't get a decent price on Chicago to LA flights when she came to visit so we went with United instead. Shame, but there you go.
