Sorry Rachel, I have to disagree.... My husband (from India) is still constantly amazed at how family-un-friendly Westerners can be. My sister has been taking my nephews to restaurants since they were little tiny things. They are 1.5 and 3.5 years now, respectively - they are pretty well behaved and my sister keeps a tight rein on them. She also makes sure they have plenty of entertainment - which is key. How else are children going to learn how to behave in a restaurant unless they actually get to eat in one??
