The privacy issue is a big one- what I did was go through my entries and edit out any reference to my real name, or the real name of anyone I mentioned (I also deleted some work related entries). That might not be practical for you depending on how many entries you had, but it saves the archives. I also recommend you set your journal to not cache in the search engines.

MissPinkKate: what a fabulous idea! I've already gone through and deleted names and specifics that were bothering me. I'm gonna change my email link to my new gmail address and I think that should do the trick!

Good luck with the privacy issue. I just started a blog and I am having trouble keeping the names that I gave to my family straight. Sad considering that I came up with the names myself. Ack!

Why would anyone get offended by xmas? I am Catholic and I read somewhere on one of my Catholic sites that "x" is abbreviation of Christs name in, I think, Latin. It must be Latin we love latin. Anyway stick to your guns on the Santa thing. My future child is going to be confused because we have a menorah and a Christams tree:-) P.S. I was looking at some of your past entries and I LOVE your pink glasses.

There is something (and I can figure out where and what) in the dland FAQ about some tag you can add to your diary to avoid being hit by search engines. Within 2 weeks of putting it in my code, I got NO googles ever again. (well, maybe I got one or two) If you need me to locate it, lemme know.

I think you should just dump your archives and start anew. At a minimum, you must tell me where you go! You are the only person I "know" who knits and likes reality TV.
