Well, you know I'm a granola-crunchy alternamom so of course I cosleep. :) But each of us does what we are comfortable with. I'm glad to hear that he thinks you are on the right road, just not as far as you thought. You'll get there though. You are right, it really hasn't been that long. You've got years to build this relationship, all you need to do now is keep plugging away at it. :)

I found "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth to be helpful. Unfortunately, the majority of the book is dedicated to the younger infant. Goose sleeps in her own crib and is a good sleeper, now. We tried to co-sleep but she didn't like it. She wanted her own space.

I'm glad you have someone you trust to help you out during this time. Yeah, Dumpling for sleeping til 8 am! I am pretty fascinated by attachment issues - thanks for sharing more. I'd love to know what your doctor suggests to facilitate bonding/attachment.

Hi. I am new to the world of Mortimer's Mom. I have enjoyed reading your posts. On the topic of attachment/bonding, I have to comment. Your pediatrician may be a genius and may even be right about your situation but you were so right when you said, "And no, I don't think he knows her better than me". Just remember that and give yourself and Dumpling a break. It takes time to work through these issues and find what works best for you and your child. If you trust your doc then take his advice and then figure out how to best apply it to your situation. He is there to guide you--not to pass judgment. Glean info from your visits and apply when it suits you. Enjoy getting to know Dumpling and learning what makes her happy and comfortable. Good luck!

You know, I had no idea that you had adopted--I've never been to your site before. I'm so glad to find it, so glad you emailed me. Thank you for that. I'll be devouring your stories about Dumpling, and wishing you all the best.
