Carolyn Hax, advice columnist extrodinaire for the Washington Post, says that if someone is dopey enough to assume or ask if a woman is pregnant, a simple, "No" will probably embarass them enough to keep them from ever doing it agian.

I agree with the columnist's remark there. Folks shouldn't put you in that position, and when the do ask, just respond honestly. Hopefully, they won't misjudge like that again. I had no idea that you met Kelly Ripa. I'm so envious of you! =)

You don't remotely look pregnant. Another variation on the "no" above is the Miss Manners response of: "Why would you ask such a personal question?"

You look great! Those people are crazy. (and rude)

Those people are rude. I would never discuss someone being pregnant unless they had told me specifically...even if it were really obvious. Although I have the opposite problem...if I see someone who is pregnant on the subway or whatever, I think to get up and offer my seat, but then I think "What if she is just fat and she's hurt/upset/angry that I thought she was pregnant?" So I do nothing. But I'm kinda a dork.

Just say "no", and resist the urge to comment. Someone asked me that once and I made some snide remark about not staying away from the Twinkies. I am still upset at myself for making that comment. BTW, you do not look pregnant, and Kelly Rippa, she might be nice but she is too thin. I would like to hold her down and shove Twinkies in her mouth, and make sure she swallows all of them. I cannot believe you met Carl Reiner as well. He is my all time favorite writer/comedian/director. I enjoyed our chat yesterday, you gave me plenty of topics to write about.

Okay, you're adorable! And, as an obese woman, I don't wouldn't even begin to assume you were pregnant. Hell, you look normal to me!

You look amazing -- not pregnant at all. Some people are just stupid!

Wanna be belly-buddies? I have the same problem with people saying "Oh, you're pregnant!". Sometimes they have the nerve not to believe me when I say no. I've gotten kind of mean about it (depending on who it is, of course), I put on an exaggerated shocked-hurt face and say "No, I just don't do enough sit-ups" in the hope that next time, they will think before speaking. I work in an elementary school and the little critters are all at belly-level and some of them actually pat my stomach! You'd think that would be enough to keep me away from the cookies, but noooo. I don't think you look pregnant at all. Kelly is the one who doesn't look normal.
